The tragic assassination of the beloved former president John F. Kennedy last year remains embedded in the minds of the average American, and it shows, with Kennedy's VP LBJ towing his legacy pretty faithfully so far. On the republican spectrum, a heated primary has seen the poster boy for the GOP's liberal wing, Nelson Rockefeller, champion of his party's nomination against the party's conservative wing. If the pollsters are correct, Rocky is expected to put up a good fight against the Titanic Texan this year.

For the first time since 1948, a third party is expected to win a state, as Alabama Governor George C. Wallace. runs as an Independent Democrat with the intention of stopping all civil rights legislation with a deadlocked electoral college.

\"America is not just a power, it is a promise. It is not enough for our country to be extraordinary in might; it must be exemplary in meaning.\"

Nelson Aldrich \"Rocky\" Rockefeller is an odd case. As a paternal descendant of one of America's richest oligarchs and a maternal one of America's most conservative senators. You wouldn't be alone if you would think that the young Rocky would follow suit with his ancestors.

Nelson A. Rockefeller is currently the popular, hands on Governor of New York State, and has assumed the position since 1959. He has championed a series of liberal policies such as increasing the state's role in education, environmental protection, transportation, housing, welfare, medical aid, civil rights, and the arts. So much so that he became leader of a faction of republicans known as \"Rockefeller Republicans\" and he intends to bring them to greatness this election.

Rocky goes into this election with alot of great aspects backing him on. His easy going persona and moderate values make him an incredibly palatable choice for many Americans. His tenure as New York's governor has also been widely applauded for its emphasis on helping the lower classes, something peculiar coming from the descendants of billionares. Due to his personal and family riches, money will not be an issue this campaign, and Rocky holds a large amount of sway in the Republican Party, something which he can use to his advantage in gaining a leg up in certain states.

Unfortunately for Rockefeller, not everything is peaches and cream for his election campaign. His less than amicable divorce to Mary Todhunter Clark in 1962 still hangs over Rocky like a storm cloud, and it nearly cost him the nomination if not for a last-second passionate speech from Connecticut's Prescott Bush saving his prospects in the California Primary. The 1964 RNC this year was especially ugly, with Rocky's main opponent, Arizona's conservative senator Barry Goldwater still feeling bitter about the primaries. Things that Rockefeller is gonna need to make amends with or risk destroying his wing of the GOP.

Rocky is not expected to win this election, but instead make a good showing, which should be easy considering his credentials. But you never know, anything could happen.","color_hex":"#a3102e","secondary_color_hex":null,"is_active":1,"image_url":"https://i.imgur.com/DBoxE9T.png","electoral_victory_message":"

WALLACE'S SOUTHERN SPLINTER DEADLOCKS THE ELECTION! END OF CRA?h3>

You can hardly believe what you see on the T.V as Walter Cronkite announces that George Wallace successfully denied both you and Johnson an electoral majority.

Suprisingly enough, even though Democrats hold both the House and Senate, many of those congressmen supported Wallace, so Johnson will have to strike a deal with either you or Wallace. But that doesn't take away from the fact that you managed your campaign so well that you denied Johnson an electoral majority. So, take pride in that! Sources say that Goldwater is making early manuevers to try and secure the 1968 Nomination, but because you've done so well, and as such rejuvinated your wing of the party, perhaps you could make so deals so that the nomination falls for somebody you find more appealing, like Romney.

Anyways, it's time to go home to New York City and relax for a bit, this whole campaign took alot of you.","description_as_running_mate":null,"candidate_score":1,"running_mate":false,"scrollable":false}},{"model":"campaign_trail.candidate","pk":8843,"fields":{"first_name":"Eric","last_name":"Hass","election":4,"party":"Socialist","state":"New York","priority":1,"description":"description for Hass","color_hex":"#6e133a","secondary_color_hex":null,"is_active":0,"image_url":"https://i.imgur.com/DBoxE9T.png","electoral_victory_message":"
