It's a jubilant midnight in California, as the heir of Jack and Democrat's golden child Bobby Kennedy has just scored a smashing victory there. His proud support of desegregation, economic prosperity and preserving the legacy of his brother has resonated with millions, and he well on his way to the White House at this point.

That was until a shot rang out into the crowded kitchen, then one more, and then some more, and when all was said and done. Bobby was dead. Millions mourned, millions more dumbfounded at why? The emotions of America were reaching a breaking point, a poisoned concotion of rage, fear and sadness all mixing together to create the most vile condition of revolution.

Hello, jimbo here with my 12th mod, and probably my best mod so far. I actually had this idea shelved for quite some time before I regained the momentum to finish it (thanks Script) and honestly I think it came out very swell. Hope you enjoyed it! There is a possibility that this could spiral into a massive TFC/Red mod series but i wouldn't bet on it.

anyway enjoy this wikibox

some lore stuff: no chappaquiddick, wallace deadlocks, but the democratic majority lets kennedy win anyway, kennedy's term is mid. vietnam sucks but the economy is good. bretton woods makes things iffy but its alright. either Ashbrook, Agnew or some other crazy conservative steps up to bat in 1972 to defeat frat boy Kennedy.

A draft movement started by some of Bobby's most faithful supporters to bring his young brother Teddy as the nominee has swept the convention, and through his tear-laden eyes, Ted accepts.

Edward Moore Kennedy is the Democrat's reluctant warrior, a stalwart for the anti-war movement and a darling of the Democratic party's liberal wing. Hopefully you can make good on your promises to clean up Washington and change the political and moral culture of the country. As an outsider candidate, this was really your moment to make an impact on American politics and to win a national election. Richard Nixon is not the same man he was in 1960. Hardened by losses in 1960 and 1962, the man once left for dead by the Republican party has re-entered with a vengeance, hellbent on ascending to the highest office in the land. Running on a promise of Law and Order, he found an untapped niche of voters he nicknamed the \"Silent Majority\" whom propelled him to victory against the wacko Reagan and nutjob Rockefeller.

Nixon is politically savvy, and knows what to do and when to do it, but struggles with identity within his party, he supports some stuff conservative and some stuff liberal. Not only that but he is infamously uncharismatic and struggles in open-mic settings, best exemplified in his rather embarrassing performance against the original Kennedy in 60'. Fred Roy Harris will be your lifeline in this election, Ted. A liberal in the south, a populist and a ranger. He is supported by President Johnson, and would be just the choice to salvage Texas. Harris stands for economic populism, greater rights for Native Americans, and is a vociferous ally of Johnson's Great Society programs. He would help shore up fledgling Democratic support in the south without damaging it up north.

Harris is not without his issues though, for any other candidate, his young age of 38 would only play into the argument that the ticket is too young and inexperienced to properly handle the issues hampering America at the moment. If you're looking to make inroads into the south, then Carl Edward Sanders Sr. is your favored pick. A WW2 vet, he would certainly be a bit of a polarizing choice for your base, as a racial moderate from the deep south, but it's more than that. Georgia is certainly more winnable then Oklahoma, and Sanders would definitely force some bloc of southerners to warm up to your campaign. He supported your brother John's New Frontier and does the same with the Great Society.

However, Sanders would be a hard pill for your liberal-minded base to swallow, and you'd run the risk of pushing them away, not only that but he's rather averse to being your running mate due to your more then plenty of disagreements. Another good southerner would be James Terry Sanford, the former governor of North Carolina. Sanford was the first of the up and coming \"New South\" governors who prioritized racial moderation and economic acts over segregation. Sanford himself focusing himself of reforming the state's sloppy education system. Sanford notably endorsed your brother Jack in the 1960 primaries over southern frontrunner Lyndon Johnson, and something like that should be rewarded, no matter how long ago it was.

However, Sanford also has a lot of issues if you're considering him. He left as an unpopular governor, and his record on race would not appease the Wallace brigades in the south. However, this is a risky gambit, as he is quite unfriendly with the more vocal anti-war left, whom mae up most of your coalition, and Scoop's clean record on civil rights would make cracking the south a no-go. • The year is 1968.
  • America looks to be decaying, as while the streets breed rioting, the upper echelon of government appears to do nothing.

The Kennedy's were once again completely heartbroken and inconsolable, the patriarch Joe - as senile as he was becoming - was still as furious that his latest chance of getting back into the executive had slipped away. But among the chaos, a spark arose in his mind when he heard his youngest's eulogy of Bobby.

Ted was an up and coming, and was still wet behind the ears. But he had the same charm, views and looks as Bobby. The convention probably wouldn't take anybody else. McCarthy? Hah! Humphrey? No way. McGovern? Not a chance in hell. And so he pondered his options, deciding on the penultimate one.

It's a jubilant midnight in California, as the heir of Jack and Democrat's golden child Bobby Kennedy has just scored a smashing victory there. His proud support of desegregation, economic prosperity and preserving the legacy of his brother has resonated with millions, and he well on his way to the White House at this point

That was until a shot rang out into the crowded kitchen, then one more, and then some more, and when all was said and done. Bobby was dead. Millions mourned, millions more dumbfounded at why? Chief among them all would be Ted, Bobby's youngest brother.

Among everyone, Ted was the most broken. Bobby and Ted were two peas in a pod, and they were both for eachother when one was down in the dumps. Ted was even out campaigning for him in California when he was killed. As such, he felt awful about the whole situation and that paranoia would spread throughout his mind, but despite his fears, a flame within his heart would grow, the flame to preserve his brother's legacies.

The flame would grow viscously when he met with his father in the aftermath of the shooting, where the old man pleaded with his son in his shaky voice to run. He was in no position to yell and throw around his weight, but his influence still hung around like an aura. Ted weighed his options.

The primaries came and went and nobody was able to crack that barrier, and as such, chaos reigned at the convention. Protests outside turned to riots, riots turned to revolts. Things inside were just as chaotic as outside, nobody could agree on any candidate. Bobby's death had opened a void in just who would be the nominee. But among all the chaos, one thing remained consistent, the 'Draft Ted' movements.

Ted himself was very against running, not wanting to be shot and killed just like two of his brothers, but throughout it all, his father's demands, his own ambitions, and the public hounding him, he relented. He endorsed the movements, and the rest is history.

The latter half of the 60's have continued to descend into bedlam. With inflation, Vietnam, a tipping point on civil rights all culminating into chaos. The death of dynasty-heir and Democratic contender Bobby Kennedy has only contributed to the turmoil.
