With Ronald Reagan's popular leadership coming to an end, the country seems evermore likely to continue his line of politics going into the 90's. Why? I'll tell you.
The majority opinion has their bets on Bush, but if he isn't careful, he could end up like Dewey in 48'.

This mod was just something to do really for the hell of it and I think it came out nicely.
George Herbert Walker Bush will win this election - there's no way he can't - A strong economy, a popular vice-presidency , an even more popular boss, moderate dogma and we haven't even mentioned the sheer unpopularity of his opponent in the general - Jesse Jackson. Despite the seeming probability of his win, Bush does have a few options if he really wants to give the Democrats a run for their money. He could tap into white backlash, or he could pivot to get moderate Dems on board. Any option is really free, as there is no way he can lose. There is no way that Jackson can pull a Truman out of his ass - there's just no way.

This was the expectant result. As Jackson was too polarizing for American society. On the political front, you can continue the policies of Reagan or turn in a more moderate direction. Internationally, you can hopefully oversee a period of relaxed tension with the Soviet Union.
", "electoral_loss_message": "This was a serious shock, Jackson was very unpopular. Maybe people were ready to move on from Reagan, or perhaps you made one too many gaffes.
Time will tell if Jackson governs as a moderate, a liberal, or a progressive. A lot can happen in four years, but the early gossip is that Bob Dole has the inside track for the 1992 nomination. Your presidential ambitions have ended here.

Jackson is famous - or infamous - in the American public as an avid liberal, pushing through many progressive platforms such as ratifying the ERA, cutting defense spending and reviving various other 'New Deal' esque programs to help the economy. Jackson would be the first African-American on a major ticket.
Unfortunately, Jackson is very unpopular with many key voting groups he'll need to win over this year, chief among them is the Jewish community, whom he has offended in the past. Not only that, but his ethnicity will be used in dirty ways by the Bush campaign and Jackson himself has never been elected to a political office, which would be a weak spot. Jackson will need to put in the lord's work to make this race close, but by god - he's gonna do it.",

It's no secret that party leaders view you with discontent, and the inverse with you. But, they still feel that this race is worth salvaging, and have given you a few options - chief among them is the relatively new senator of Michigan, Carl Milton Levin. Levin would do wonders in reclaiming lost Democratic support turned off by your views. Levin's biggest upside is his religion, as you have a terrible relationship with the Jewish community, and Levin can help tithe back support from them. He is also liberal and gives you good geographic balance in Michigan and the Rustbelt.
However, it must be stated that Levin is very averse to the idea of serving as your running mate, but combined pressure from party leaders combined with a sense of duty has forced him to acquiesce, so early in the campaign he might not be the most energetic campaigner. ",

Pell would be a very surprising pick, as his experience and goodwill with his fellow senators could come seriously in handy down the line. Like Leahy, Pell would help you in New England, and would already bolster support in Rhode Island.
However, Pell isn't jewish, and is a bit of an eccentric person. He believes in the paranormal, wears suits while he jogs, and once took Fidel Castro's cigar because he thought it was a gift.
