President Howard Dean has had a shaky second term in office. With his progressive agenda stymied by a hostile congress, perceived as weak in foreign matters, he will leave office with his popularity up in the air. Charles Duane Baker Jr. is Massachusetts's current, popular Governor - taking office in 2010. A dyed in the wool Red Cat, he has advocated a fairly liberal agenda during his tenure so far, supporting gay rights, abortion and increased federal funding to schools. He is nice, charismatic and very popular across New England. Although, Baker continues the dominance of the GOP by its northeastern wing - for better or worse.

Enrique Roberto \"Henry\" Cuellar is Texas's junior senator, having served since 2012. Cuellar is the chair of the Blue Dog coalition, the primary league of the modern Democratic party. Cuellar is a fiscal moderate, and a social conservative - opposing abortion, gay rights and Dean's presidency. Cuellar is a popular figure among his fellow Democrats, which made primary season easy this year. He could seriously break the Republican dominance in the plains if he tries hard enough too.
Unfortunately, his conservatism puts many urban centers such as southern New England out of reach for the Dems this year.
